Compression

The first one of the treatments is the compression stockings. These are going to be socks or stockings that are tight on the legs. Basically, they are tight so that they are squeezing the legs in order for the blood to move more freely throughout the legs. This is going to help with some of the symptoms that a person might experience if they have varicose veins. Even though they are not going to be able to get rid of the varicose veins, they are going to be able to provide the patient with some type of relief from the symptoms.

Sclerotherapy

The second one is going to be the varicose vein foam treatment, or sclerotherapy. This is also going to be known as sclerotherapy. Basically, there is going to be a solution that is injected into the inside of the veins with a needle. This will allow the blood to coagulate and clot so that the vein can be destroyed. Most of the time, it is only going to take about 7 to 10 days before some of the swellings of the veins is going to go down. You need to be aware that it is going to be a painful procedure because the solution is injected directly into the vein.

Endovenous thermal ablation

The third one of the treatments is the thermal ablation. This is when the doctor is going to use the heat from a laser to close the vein once it has been cauterized. The surgeon will have to use an ultrasound in order to make sure that the catheter is inserted into the vein correctly. Basically, the vein is going to collapse the vessel wall so that it can be broken down inside of the body. Most of the time, you will need some type of anesthesia because of the pain. But it is less painful than the sclerotherapy and is known to be a lot more effective.

Stripping

The fourth one of the treatments is the vein stripping. Through tiny incisions in the leg, the veins are going to be removed from the legs. But this is not a very popular choice because the surgeon is going to need to make a lot of different incisions in the leg. Most of the time, this procedure is only going to be used if the person has the larger varicose veins. You are going to feel some pain from the incisions after the procedure is done along with some bruising where the incisions where made on the legs. There might even be some numbness and tingling on the lower leg if the nerves are irritated.

VenaSeal

The fifth one of the treatments is the VenaSeal. This is one of the newest treatments that have been used in order to treat the varicose veins. Basically, an adhesive is used to glue the veins that have been damaged shut. It is usually going to work a lot like the thermal techniques. There are fewer chances of any damage to your nerves with this procedure. The incision site is the only part of the leg that will have to be numb at the time of the procedure. Plus you don’t have to wear the compression stockings after the procedure like some of the other treatments.
