The slightly acidic nature of lemons and great smell make them a terrific natural source for kitchen cleaning and deodorizing. Below are simple ways you can get rid of lingering odors and keep your SubZero appliances clean.
Eliminating Odors in the Refrigerator
Mix 1/2-cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice with 2-cups white vinegar. Add them to a spray bottle and spritz the entire inside of the refrigerator. Allow it to stay on the surface for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water and dry. The fridge will smell great for a long time to come. Repeat as needed.
Air Freshener and Sink Cleanser
Mix 2-cups of lemon juice and a cup of baking soda and bring the mixture to a boil. Add 1 cup of cool water and stir well. Add this to a spray bottle and begin to spritz the air in the kitchen. It will remove any lingering odors and leave the fresh smell of lemons behind. You can also use this same mixture to spritz the sink and rinse. It will eliminate odors and any stuck-on food.
Deodorize the Garbage Disposal
Add 1-teaspoon of lemon peel shavings to each section of an ice cube tray. Cover with water and freeze. Add one cube of frozen lemon peel/water to the disposal when you notice lingering odors. Repeat anytime you need to deodorize.
Add Room Scents
Add 2-cups of lemon juice, 2-cups water and one sprig of fresh rosemary to a saucepan. Place it on your SubZero range and bring it to a gentle boil. Allow it to release the pleasant scent into the air slowly. The smell will last for days.
Clean and Deodorize the Microwave
Mix 1-cup of white vinegar and 1-cup lemon juice and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Place it on high heat for three minutes. Pull the dish out and set it aside. Take a damp rag or sponge to the interior of the microwave. Any stuck-on foods will come out quickly and the appliance will smell fresh and clean.
Use the same mixture from above for deodorizing the air and cleaning the sink. Spray the inside of the dishwasher down and rinse with cool water. The lemon juice will exit out the drain and leave the appliance smelling fresh.
